Several outreach collaborations between local TV station weather departments and science museums have taken place during the past year. Noteworthy is the WFTV partnership with the Orlando Science Center and a TV news-set designer. The set designer is considering a scalable model, depending on a museum's exhibit restrictions. CBS3 revived a historical tie with the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, home of America's first weatherman Ben Franklin. Here in Boston a number of years ago WBZ created the Weatherwise exhibit at Museum of Science of Boston. In the current working environment with little spare time what are some ways that your weather department, TV station, and a local museum can work together with benefits for all, especially for STEM education. the What works? What are the challenges? What are the costs? How much work is it? This session will be a short panel discussion with 4-5 TV meteorologists, each with NO more than 5 PPT images of their particular museum exhibits, talking briefly on their experience and suggestions on how to enhance a forecaster's local community science outreach. (A visit to Weatherwise exhibit at the Museum of Science in Boston would hopefully be available.)
