Large extratropical winter and springtime cyclones that include notable tornado outbreaks have been associated with quite a variety of weather. A perhaps overlooked weather type that accompanies many of these cases is Mexican Plateau air descending to the surface into south Texas with excessively high temperatures. Examples of this will be given, and the synoptic setting will be discussed.
