Christi Collins, FEMA, Washington, DC

For a community and the nation, preparedness is at the heart of resilience. To be successful we need to spread the word and make this a collaborative effort. Come hear about how the NWS, Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador Program and America's PrepareAthon, a community-based preparedness campaign coordinated by FEMA, are both working at the national and local levels to increase understanding of the need to prepare for seasonal hazards .

America's PrepareAthon! is a nationwide grassroots campaign for action to increase community preparedness and resilience. Coordinated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, this campaign supports initiatives at the local, state and federal levels that put preparedness into action. The National Weather Service's (NWS) Weather Ready Nation Ambassador initiative unifies efforts across government, non-profits, academia, and private industry toward making the nation more ready, responsive, and resilient against extreme environmental hazards.

Representatives from both will share the highlights of their respective programs as well discuss how strategies to use both programs in collaboration with broadcast meteorologists. Stories of collaboration in action will showcase the partnership between FEMA, NWS and AMS as well as the powerful impact this partnership has had at the local level level. Tools and resources to participate will be included.
