The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is making several improvements to its suite of products and services for the 2024 hurricane season, including extending tropical cyclone size (wind radii) forecasts to 4 and 5 days, adding the ability to issue U.S. watches and warnings on intermediate advisories, and providing all text products in Spanish for Atlantic and eastern Pacific tropical cyclones. In addition, NHC will be issuing and soliciting comments on an experimental tropical cyclone cone graphic that includes inland U.S. tropical storm and hurricane watches and warnings and an experimental international tropical cyclone rainfall graphic provided by the Weather Prediction Center. Additional product and service updates are being considered and studied by NHC and the National Weather Service for future hurricane seasons. This presentation will provide an overview of these changes for broadcast meteorologists and communications practitioners.
