The research is clear: viewers say they already know the forecast before they watch local news and they think the weather coverage is basically the same on every channel. If today’s broadcast meteorologists want to remain a relevant source of essential weather information and establish themselves as the go-to weather expert in their community, they must rethink they content they produce, publish, and post. This presentation explores three contemporary weather coverage strategies that encourage broadcast meteorologists to shift their weather coverage from trying to cover everything to covering just the essential things.
