Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) seemingly come up in daily conversations. While both have existed, in some form, for quite some time, their use has become more mainstream. Weather detection, weather forecasting, and weather communication are no exception, and the adoption of both will likely expand greatly across the weather community in the coming years.
This presentation will explore how AI and ML are already being used to improve real-time weather data and create weather-derived decision support products, with examples of their use and how this can be used to communicate more clearly with the public. In addition, we will explore the use of AI for nowcast and medium- to long-term forecast solutions and how these products can improve not only the forecast process but also the way we relay information to the public.
