Risk Assessment for Weather Based Accidents

Exposure to adverse weather such as fog, rain, and snow varies according to geographic location. Some potential factors related to crashes have not been widely studied using artificial neural network techniques. There is a need to understand the relationship between factors such as precipitation type, intensity, weather conditions, and temperature to determine whether established patterns have resulted in accidents. This research will use artificial neural networks to examine the risk associated with adverse weather as it affects highway transportation.
