The Eta Data Assimilation System (EDAS) Model Output Location Time Series (MOLTS) is an NCEP product that is an analysis of both observational and model output data. This product could be important since it can be used to "fill in" the gaps that we currently have with observational cloud data and cloud products derived from ARM-NSA data. Therefore, we will present an analysis of the quality of the MOLTS product over Barrow, Alaska by comparing its cloud fields with that of instrument observations as well as the Active Remote Sensing Cloud Layer (ARSCL). Furthermore, since MOLTS uses observed data along with model parameterizations, MOLTS represents the most accurate representation of cloud/radiation processes possible by a large scale model. Hence, we will also present preliminary analyses of how well the model parameterizations compare with ARM-NSA cloud data.
