Moisture measures and their correlations with wildland fire in the Lake States

There are nine common ways to measure the moisture content or water vapor saturation deficit of air. Fire management and behavior use relative humidity almost exclusively. The authors present analysis of the correlations between all nine measures and fire activity in Minnesota, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Analysis includes individual fire and regional total fire area correlations with moisture, and regional number of fires correlations with moisture. Fire area correlations are stratified according to wind speed as well as discussed collectively.
