Near-Real-Time AMSR-E Processing at NOAA

Ivan Tcherednitchenko, Computer Sciences Corporation, Suitland, MD; and P. Haggerty, G. Legg, and R. Luczak

The NOAA/NESDIS AMSR-E Near-Real-Time (NRT) Processing System was implemented under Computer Sciences Corporation’s (CSC) Central Satellite Data Processing contract in order to produce a full suite of products from the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for EOS (AMSR-E) instrument for NOAA and its customers.

The system was deployed on the NOAA NRT Processing Facilities at GSFC, Greenbelt, MD and uses the same NRT approaches that were developed at NOAA for MODIS and AIRS data processing. It performs a complete operational cycle, starting with processing the raw observation data that was acquired by the AMSR-E instrument aboard the AQUA satellite into geophysical products, and ending with NRT product distribution, and near term storage.

The poster will present an overview of NOAA’s AMSR-E NRT processing system, and will show some examples of operational microwave products produced by this system.
