Managing the storage and distribution of future hyperspectral satellite data will impose significant demands on scientific computing infrastructure. A prototype system addressing such demands is currently being developed at the University of Wisconsin - Space Science & and Engineering Center (UW-SSEC). This system employs datasets from the THORPEX experiment instrumentation suite including AIRS, S-HIS, and NAST-I in order to demonstrate interactive methods by which users can browse, search, retrieve, and distribute derived measurements. A Web based front end supported by a metadata catalog allows users to search for data based on selected criteria. Queries provide the user with quicklook images and links allowing direct download of the data. Products and summaries that the user might generate from this data can be submitted into the system for later re-examination, for collaboration, and for archiving.
