The Drought of 2002 in Colorado (Formerly Poster JP3.6)

Nolan J. Doesken, Colorado State Univ., Fort Collins, CO; and R. A. Pielke, Sr.

Colorado experienced very severe drought in 2002 resulting in massive wildfires, severe crop losses, livestock losses, record low streamflows and widespread municipal water restrictions. This poster will document precipitation and temperature conditions in Colorado leading up to the drought and show how this drought compares to past documented drought periods since 1890. Examples of streamflows and mountain snowpack will be presented.
