Area-averaged profiles over the Mock Urban Setting Test array
Hall 4AB
Numerous 2D and 3D sonic anemometers were deployed in, above, and around the Mock Urban Setting Test (MUST) array. MUST consisted of a 10 by 12 aligned array of containers, each 12.2 m long, 2.42 m wide, and 2.54 m high. The array was located in Utah’s West Desert at US Army Dugway Proving Grounds in relatively flat terrain surrounded by low scrub brush. The time-averaged data from these anemometers was bin averaged according to height to produce area-averaged velocity and tke profiles within and above the array. These profiles were then compared with various wind tunnel data and the Cionco urban canopy profile. These velocity and tke profiles can be used to verify the accuracy of urban canopy parameterizations in mesoscale meteorological models and urban dispersion models with atmospheric data.
