16th Symposium on Education

2.5A

Starting a local K-12 Student Chapter

Kathleen A. Murphy, AMS Education Resource Educator, St. Louis, MO

The American Meteorological Society has invited precollege schools to form their own local chapters. This gives school children an opportunity to explore the sea and sky and to be inspired by the world around them at a very early age. Many schools have clubs and organizations and the student chapters fit that niche. This presentation will walk you through the steps of applying for a chapter, offer suggestions for meeting activities and will share the successes of a middle school student chapter. .
