During 2005 and 2006 three field campaigns have been carried out in the Arctic Lidar Observatory for Middle Atmosphere Research (ALOMAR), Andoya Rocket Range, Norway (69N, 16E, elev. 380 m), and supported by the eARI program of the European Union. The instrumentation used in these campaigns was the ALOMAR tropospheric Lidar and a Cimel sun photometer. The ALOMAR facility provides also in situ and remote sensing meteorological parameters, and several other co-located instruments are used for the Lidar data interpretation. The evolution of the vertical distribution of the aerosols is analyzed, in order to study aerosol stratification and height patterns for the long-range transported aerosols into this Arctic region.
