35th Conference on Broadcast Meteorology

9.3

Your credibility as station scientist

Michael R. Smith, WeatherData, Inc., Wichita, KS; and M. A. Steinberg

As the “station scientist” you will be called upon to comment on a variety of meteorological, climatological and natural hazards phenomena. This presentation will examine a prominent newspaper article relating to climate change and how the actual data paints a very different picture. Independent research is vital – after all, your reputation is at stake.

Suggestions will be made regarding research techniques and pitfalls that affect your accuracy and credibility.
