Palo Alto College is part of the Alamo Community College District which serves San Antonio and surrounding areas. It is a minority serving institution (approximately 70% Hispanic) with an enrollment of over 8000 students. Oceanography has not been a traditional part of the curriculum at Palo Alto. In the Fall of 2006, Oceanography is being offered as a 3 credit non-lab course. The course is being taught in the classroom, but it is utilizing The AMS Online Ocean Studies program. Online exercises encompass those conducted in the classroom and by the students on their own time. Results of this initial offering of Online Ocean Studies at Palo Alto are presented.
