This poster will describe an ongoing Coastal Waters (CW) Imaging research project at Northrop Grumman Space Technology (NGST). NGST has undertaken research into the instrument and data processing issues that influence CW data utility and impact CW data products. Various aspects of CW imaging are being examined including vicarious calibration processing and tools, simulation closure experiments, and data acquisition and analysis tools. NGST has teamed with national experts in coastal imaging including the Florida Environmental Research Institute, which specializes in imaging spectroscopy, sensor calibration, and geospatial information products for the open and coastal ocean. These experts provided NGST with data and expertise which allowed the project to make rapid progress toward the goal of understanding the most critical issues for deriving CW imaging products.
