U.S. Climate Change Program: An Update on Progress and Future Challenges
217D (Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center)
William Brennan, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for International Affairs, Washington, DC
This presentation will provide an update on the recent progress made by the U.S. Climate Change Science Program (CCSP) as well as the leadership changes. It will also address the challenges faced by the program, including those potentially brought about by NPOESS. CCSP is an interagency program comprised of 13 federal agencies with a charge to integrate and coordinate climate science research across the U.S. Government. Continuity in observations is critical to the advancement of climate science, and the relevant CCSP agencies will support efforts to continue the long-standing observational climate records.
