Large eddy simulation of the atmospheric boundary layer under various stability conditions
Mohamed M. Hefny, Univ. of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan; and R. Ooka
Accurate Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations of atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) flow are essential for a wide variety of atmospheric studies including urban design and pollutant dispersion and deposition. In this study, A Large Eddy Simulation (LES) is performed to numerically simulate the atmospheric boundary layer.
Different stability conditions are considered in this study, i.e., neutral, stable, and unstable conditions. The structures of the atmospheric boundary layer under all these stability cases are evaluated. The LES results are compared to those of the experiments.
