Oceans affecting Environment at Rosebud Indian Reservation

Subodh Singh, Sinte Gleska Univ., Mission, SD; and N. Singh and V. K. Singh

The closest ocean from Rosebud Indian Reservation is about 1300 Miles away, but WE HAD OCEAN IN THE PAST and WE MAY HAVE OCEAN IN THE FUTURE,

These oceans determine the physical, ecological, economical, and psychological environment of South Dakotans including Native Americans.

At such place, teaching Ocean studies is challenging but interesting.

As you drive past through the central South Dakota, you observe all different spectacular signatures left by the oceans, millions of years ago. What does these mean and how do they affect the life style of habitants of this area will be discussed.

Interesting examples of overcoming challenges, utilizing opportunities and kid's experiences during whole semester of learning about Oceans will be shared in the poster.
