Create an archive with the THREDDS Data Repository

The THREDDS Data Repository (TDR) is a server that provides client initiated, on demand storage for data of any type to be served by the THREDDS Data Server (TDS). The TDR provides functionality to:

* securely store and "own" data files and create catalogs

* locate and manage storage space on the server

* upload files via HTTP and gridftp

* upload a collection of data as single file

* modify and restructure repository contents via add, remove, move, copy of datasets

* incorporate metadata provided by the user or client

* generate additional metadata

* edit individual metadata elements

The TDR complements TDS technology by providing a means to populate a repository of data that can be served via the TDS. The TDR fully is integrated with the TDS, so all TDS functionality for serving data, including OPeNDAP and WCS access, is available for items stored in the repository. Also, like the TDS, while the UPC does provide a TDR for use by designated projects, the TDR is intended to be deployed by other institutions so that they may create and administer their own repositories.

In LEAD the TDR will be used to allow users to publish data and other information associated with their experiments. This paper will present the current state of the TDR and its applications.
