The Geostationary Lightning Mapper Instrument for GOES-R

A contact for the design and fabrication of the Geostationary Lighting Mapper (GLM) has recently been awarded to the Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Center. This instrument, which is scheduled to be flown on GOES-R and subsequent satellites, will establish new standards for detection and location of lightning.
