Can OGC Web Services Work in an Operational Setting?
206 (Ernest N. Morial Convention Center)
Mark W. Govett, Earth System Research Laboratory, Boulder, CO
NOAA/ESRL's Global Systems Division (GSD) has been exploring the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGS) standards and web services with a goal of determining if they can satisfy real-world operational requirements. We would like to use OGC web services to discover and access gridded data and observational data that are stored in netCDF, GRIB, and other formats for use in an AWIPS like environment. This talk will discuss progress to date, and plans for the future.
