Potential for monitoring of fog and dew events using mesonet data
Exhibit Hall B (Ernest N. Morial Convention Center)
Criteria for operational discrimination between fog and dew scenarios are developed based on vertical profiles of temperature, humidity, and wind at stations of the Mississippi Mesonet and the Oklahoma Mesonet. Development is done based primarily on widespread events identified from ASOS and satellite data. The criteria will then be applied for determination of station climatologies and derivation of real-time products for Mississippi.
