Status and Activities of the NPOESS CERES in Preparation for Delivery to the NPP Spacecraft
Exhibit Hall B (Ernest N. Morial Convention Center)
Hal Bloom, NPOESS IPO, Silver Spring, MD; and R. Hamilton
The Cloud and Earth Radiant Energy System (CERES) instrument is a long standing instrument that measures Earth Radiation budget and has been a corner stone in the measurement of fluctuations of climate for several decades. In order to continue this series of measurement the spare CERES sensor is a candidate to be manifested on the NPP spacecraft. The NPP satellite is an early instrument risk reduction component of the NPOESS mission. This poster will focus on the plans and challenges to include the CERES on NPP and describe any new design aspects of CERES resulting from performance and parts obsolescence challenges.
