Meridional Energy Transport Discrepancies in Transient and Equilibrium Climate Simulations
Exhibit Hall B (Ernest N. Morial Convention Center)
We compare changes in meridional energy transport in the climate models of the IPCC database and investigate discrepancies between the transient and equilibrium models. The ensemble change in northern hemisphere static energy flux in the A1B simulations is almost non-existent while it is pronounced in the transient simulations. We also compute the static energy flux due to transient eddy activity to determine its effect.
