Effects of Meteorological Forcing on Transport and Fate of CDOM in the South Atlantic Bight
Exhibit Hall B (Ernest N. Morial Convention Center)
Using a combination of remotely sensed data from SeaWiFS and MODIS imagery an investigation was conducted of the effects of various meteorological forcing events on chromomorphic (colored) dissolved organic matter (CDOM) in the South Atlantic Bight, USA. Meteorological forcing events include tropical storms, nor'easter storm events, and other conditions that mark larger than normal stream flow in the study area. The study site focuses between North Carolina and northern Florida. In addition, imagery was checked against in situ cruise and tower data to trace patterns in various oceanographic and meteorological conditions.
