Aeroweb: a new met website for aeronautical users

Lior Perez, METEO-FRANCE, Toulouse, France; and P. Venzac

Meteo-France has implemented since several years a meteorological Internet service for flight preparation, designed for aeronautical users, and called Aeroweb.

Recently, Web 2.0 has profoundly changed the habits of information access : users expect more customized and more ergonomic websites. On the other hand, new certification and traceability requirements now apply to flight documentation provided via Internet. As a consequence, Meteo-France has developed a new release of its aeronautical system Aeroweb based on a Service-Oriented Architecture.

For light-aviation users, the new Aeroweb service provides meteorological flight documentation in less than a minute, thanks to automatic calculation features and favorites. The commercial-aviation users also benefit from specific configuration features and scheduled email transmission.

Web thus allows all categories of users to get meteorological flight documentation more easily and faster than by traditional means.
