We are using our lightning mapping array stations to observe lightning generated during the eruption of different volcanoes. There are many inputs to the atmosphere from volcanic eruptions that can have varied meteorological consequences. Lightning seems to be present in most large explosive eruptions. We will present some of our measurements and show how lightning can serve as another tool to sense, understand and monitor the volcanic inputs to the atmosphere.
