The Warren Washington Digital Collection at NCAR

Diane Rabson, NCAR, Boulder, CO; and M. Marlino

Over the last two years, the NCAR Library and the NCAR Archives have partnered to create a unique digital collection that documents the life and career of Warren M. Washington, distinguished climate modeler, policymaker, and advocate for broader opportunities in the atmospheric

sciences for underrepresented groups. Based in part on Washington's archival papers, the collection is a rich compilation of documents, video and audio material, biographical and publication information that represent the various facets of his long career at NCAR and in national service. In addition to its value as a historical resource, the collection can serve as a model for future projects that seek to illuminate the work of other scientists for diverse audiences. NCAR's library director, archivist and web designer will showcase the collection, and discuss the joys and challenges of developing this

unique and timely resource.
