Quality Assurance of GOES-R Climate Data
GOES-R Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) data can be combined with other remotely sensed data and ground measured data to track trends in the Earth's climate. However these data must first be verified as to accuracy constraints. This poster presents tools developed using the Interactive Data Language (IDL) to apply quality assurance mechanisms to these data. Graphical User Interfaces are presented that employ mathematical and statistical methods for analyzing the GOES-R measurements. Thes tools also provide mechanisms for comparing the GOES-R data with both remote and in situ sensors. Both spatial, using resampling techniques, and temporal methods, using trending techniques, are used to assess these data. Special emphasis is placed on GOES-R Land Surface Temperature (LST) and Sea Surface Temperature (SST). Several plots are presented that display visual analyses mechanisms for qualifying, and ultimately verifying, these data.
