Status and activities of the NPOESS Cross-Track Infrared Sounder in preparation for delivery to the NPP spacecraft

Richard Slonaker, NPOESS IPO, Silver Spring, MD

The Cross-Track Infrared Sounder (CrIS) will provide retrievals of atmospheric moisture and temperature profiles for the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS). The first deployment of the CrIS system is scheduled in 2010 on the NPOESS Preparatory Project (NPP) satellite, which is an early instrument risk reduction component of the NPOESS mission. This Poster will describe the status of CrIS testing, characterization, and its preparation for delivery to the NPP spacecraft contractor. We also describe data analyses and results of sensor tests on the CrIS FM1 instrument.
