Status and activities of the NPOESS Visible/Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) in preparation for delivery to the NPP spacecraft

PAPER WITHDRAWN

Gary Ross, NPOESS IPO, Silver Spring, MD; and M. Ayers

The Visible/Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) will provide atmospheric, land, and ocean products similar to MODIS and OLS for the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS). The first deployment of the VIIRS system is scheduled in 2010 on the NPOESS Preparatory Project (NPP) satellite, which is an early instrument risk reduction component of the NPOESS mission. This Poster will describe the status of VIIRS testing, characterization, and its preparation for delivery to the NPP spacecraft contractor. We also describe data analyses and results of sensor tests on the VIIRS FM1 instrument.
