Status of the CERES Instruments for NPP and NPOESS

Stan Schneider, NPOESS Integrated Program Office, Silver Spring, MD; and A. Webb

The Cloud and Earth Radiant Energy System (CERES) instrument is a long- standing instrument that measures Earth Radiation budget and has been a cornerstone in the measurement of fluctuations of climate for several decades. In order to continue this series of measurements, there are plans to manifest the CERES instrument on the NPP satellite and the first NPOESS satellite, C1. The NPP satellite is an early instrument risk reduction component of the NPOESS mission and will also provide data continuity for climate purposes. This poster will focus on progress made in including the CERES on NPP and NPOESS C1.
