Global blended Total Precipitable Water (TPW) products produced from polar orbiting microwave sensors, ground-based GPS and geostationary satellite sounders have been available on the web for the past few years. This has allowed forecasters to gain a better understanding of the products, develop applications and include them in their analysis and forecasts of heavy precipitation and flooding. The year 2009 marks an important milestone for the products as they will become operational with dedicated round-the-clock support. This talk will give you an update on the current state of the products before they become operational. Applications of the product for hydrometeorological hazardous weather conditions will also be shown along with potential new sources of data to improve the products for the future.
