With the introduction of web mapping services such as Yahoo! Maps,

Microsoft Virtual Earth, and Google Maps, it has become possible to

create interactive web based applications for displaying geocoded

information like meteorological data. However, these data sets use

formats that mesh poorly with current web development paradigms.

Others have proposed `"tiling" systems that pre-render these data collections

into more amenable formats at varying resolutions. In this paper, we

will show that this technique is not practical for rapidly updating data sets. We will also discuss solutions for ingesting and

displaying surface data, geostationary satellite data, WSR-88D radar

data, numerical weather prediction model data, and other geolocated

data using our web mapping application.
