Originally started as part of a NASA project in the upper Midwestern portion of the U.S. via the Great Lakes Fleet Experiment (GLFE), TAMDAR coverage is expanding toward full CONUS coverage. This goal is projected to be achieved in later half of 2009. Progress over the last year has included expansion into the Gulf of Mexico area, Texas, and Oklahoma. Additionally, coverage on the Atlantic coast has increased over the past year to now stretch from Maine to central Florida.

Current active expansion projects include activation of TAMDAR-equipped aircraft on the west coast from southern California to British Columbia, east into the mountain states, and continued expansion of coverage in Alaska. The final portion of the US to be filled will most likely be the high plains. The final paper will contain updated details on current TAMDAR coverage at the time of publication.
