The aim of this study is to find out characteristics of the building and public facilities damages and assess the wind damage potential by typhoon in the Korean Peninsula. For this, we investigated the damages of building and public facilities, which have high interrelationship to the total property losses using the prevention meteorological database information made by Park et. al.(2007), and assess the wind damage potential to residence by typhoon using the method of Florida Public Hurricane Loss Projection Model(FPHLM). The detached household data from the Korea National Statistical Office 2005 Census was used to estimate detached house damage caused by the scale of a strong wind from the typhoon. We assume the total house price is 1 hundred million won.

As a result, Most of the total property losses is the damages of the building and public facilities, we can reduce the damages of the natural disaster if we can predict the rank of risk and carry out the disaster prevention activities in advance. This result is in accord with Park et. al.(2008). And the damage amount of houses was about 230 hundred million won. But this is just for the representative house type, which is the 1-story detached dwelling, 19~29pyeong (62.81~95.56 m2)and flat roof. Also, this process can be apply to other type of houses.
