Precipitation Closure Using Remote Measurements of Liquid Water and Precipitation From Aircraft During VOCALS
Room 244 (New Orleans Convention Center )
Paquita Zuidema, University of Miami, Miami, FL

The VOCALS field experiment acquired a unique dataset on cloud properties from a suite of airborne remote sensors, including a radiometer providing cloud liquid water paths and a cloud radar. These are capable of extending aircraft assessments of aerosol-cloud-precipitation interactions beyond what can be done with in-situ measurements alone. For this presentation we combine the remote measurements with in-situ aerosol data and evaluate their perspective on a precipitation closure.
