Investigation on the Impacts of Ship-Emission Control Measures on Visibility in Alaska Coastal Regions
Room 342 (New Orleans Convention Center )
Recent measurements show notable or significant increases in atmospheric sulfate aerosol and SO2 concentrations in Alaska at the coastal Simeneof and Tuxedni Wilderness Areas and at Trapper Creek sites of the IMPROVE network. Results from WRF/Chem simulations assuming various ship-emission reduction scenarios will be presented. The The emission changes between 1990 and 2000 let to substantial changes in sulfate compounds in Alaska. Results from simulations for assumed future emissions will be presented. Focus will be on spatial differences of changes along the coast.
