The Hadley Centre global model for the 5th Assessment Report of the IPCC, HadGEM2-ES, is dynamically downscaled over the Intra-Americas Sea (IAS) using the Advanced Research Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF-ARW) regional model. The HadGEM2-ES 6-hourly data at 1.25 degrees latitude and 1.875 degrees longitude horizontal resolution for the period 1950-2099 is downscaled to 35-km grid resolution over the study region. The 35-km resolution model data is then further dynamically downscaled to 2-km grid resolution over several case study areas within the IAS region. Historical climate precipitation patterns of the original model data and the downscaled 35-km resolution data are presented over a range of time scales to compare these results with observations. Wet and dry season precipitation composites will be presented for the 2-km case studies. These composites will be used for evaluating future precipitation patterns over the same areas.
