The GOES-R satellite represents the development of the next generation geosynchronous observatory for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This paper surveys the architecture of the spacecraft bus and the highlights the accommodation of the six GOES-R instruments to achieve an advanced design that satisfies the mission objectives and assures mission continuity.
