AWIPS II Test and Development Environment At NOAA's Global Systems Division
Room 356 (New Orleans Convention Center )
William Roberts, OAR, Boulder, CO; and R. Lowther, E. Mandel, and B. Rood

NOAA's Global Systems Division (GSD), formerly known as PROFS, has been involved with AWIPS development and testing for the National Weather Service since the early 1980's. For the past several years GSD has tested prototype AWIPS-II capabilities, migrated existing AWIPS I applications developed at GSD to AWIPS II, and developed new functionality for AWIPS II which will enhance the system and its architecture after initial fielding.

In order to concurrently test AWIPS II capabilities, transition programs, and develop new functionality, GSD has implemented complex test and development environments. These test and development environments have similarities to those developed to support AWIPS I and differences between AWIPS I and AWIPS II as well.

This presentation will briefly review the AWIPS II testing and development activities at GSD and discuss the systems required to support these activities.
