Natural language processing promises to become the next level of human-computer interaction. In contrast to a computer language, which cannot tolerate syntax errors, and a graphical user interface, which supports a limited set of capabilities, a natural language interface combines both simplicity and flexibility. A natural language interface requires the user to type in questions in plain English with the system then interpreting the query. Motivated by use cases such as "give me the temperature in Texas, New Mexico, and 100km beyond" we will report on the current state of open-source natural language processing software in Python.
