The Department of Defense (DoD) assumed responsibility for the early morning polar environmental satellite orbit after the restructure of the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System program. In this presentation, the US Air Force Defense Weather Systems Directorate will provide a status update on the two remaining Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) satellites and the new Defense Weather Satellite Follow-on (WSF) program. This update will include information on requirements, sensors, data products, and current schedules for the DMSP and WSF satellites. The presentation will also address the cooperation between the DoD and the Joint Polar Satellite System on sharing polar ground systems.
