A comparison of modelled ozone ground concentration with measurement

In this contribution a spatial distribution of values of the ozone monthly mean ground concentration estimated by the model is compared with that based on the measured values. Measured data were collected in a field campaign that occurred in the Jeseniky Mountains in June 2000. Domain of interest, where both measurement occurred and the model exercise took part, has been located in northern Moravia close to Czech - Polish borderline. A majority of samplers used in measurement were passive samplers exposed for the period of one month but from some measuring sites also temporal records of measured ozone ground concentration have been available. This record of daily values from one measuring site is also compared with the model results.

Information about emission sources used in the model was of twofold kind. The most important point sources used in the model were placed in their real positions, remaining emission data were used in a gridded form. The latter comprised information mainly about contribution from traffic, information about emissions originating from local settlement and industry etc. Also the impact of long range transport of ozone has been taken into account. An important limiting factor was that there were not available emission data from any Polish source.

In this year a similar assessment of the ozone ground concentration distribution for the area of the whole Czech Republic is prepared for the emission data from 2001.
