Validation of the TEB scheme in the city centre of Marseille, France
A. Lemonsu, CNRM, Toulouse, France; and C. S. B. Grimmond
The aim of this work is to validate the TEB scheme in using the important data base collected during the UBL program in Marseille (june-july 2001). The principal site was situated in the city centre, close to the mediterranean coast and was subject to different flow conditions: sea-breeze, Mistral (strong turbulent wind) or land-breeze.
Fluxes measurements at two levels, radiative surface temperature, air temperature and moisture recording in a canyon have been realised continuously during the campaign in the same urban dense area. First, they constitute a complete forcing data base for TEB used off-line on a single grid point. Secondly, they allow to validate the model in a such special geagraphic context and under very different meteorological conditions.
