surface parameters in densely built-up residential area in tokyo
Land-surface parameters are evaluated from the continuos tower measurements in densely built-up residential area in Tokyo (plane aspect ratio is 0.43, mean residential height is 7.3 m and the ratio of vegetated cover is less than 20 %). The following results will be presented in the conference. (1) The annual and diurnal changes of the radiation balance, energy balance and scalar fluxes (heat, moisture and CO2), and (2) bulk land surface parameters such as roughness length for scalars, wetness index and albedo.
The averaged momentum roughness length is 1.56(m), and the parameters kB-1, the added resistance of a surface to heat and moisture transfer, are 8.0 and 20.5, respectively. The wetness index is changing between 0.2 to 0.05 in accordance with the non-rainfall duration. The averaged value of wetness is 0.1, which can produce large latent heat flux up to 200 (w/m2) in daytime. The potential contribution of urban materials to such a large evaporation potential is investigated, in terms of the urban geometry and the physical property of concrete based on the laboratory data.
