Using 3D building databases, we have derived building height characteristics for Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City. In this presentation, we compare the average building height, standard deviation of the building height, and height histograms for the 3 US cities. We then show these same building characteristics broken down by underlying landuse type, e.g., high density residential, low density residential, commercial, downtown core, industrial, transportation. This information is necessary for urban canopy parameterizations that have been developed for meteorological and air quality models.
